Abandon ship
It's not only Italian captains that abandon ship at the first hint of disaster. I had the full report of the investigation into this incident and the conduct of the captain, even before the explosion and fire was terrible, he seemed to have a total disregard for the safety of the ship given the highly volatile nature of its cargo.
