I can never understand why ' ship mystery ' articles always seem to have a photograph of the ' Ex Temple Hall ' shipwreck at Lanzarote. There was nothing mysterious about that, she ran aground. Nothing against you posting this John, but these type of articles always leave me greatly doubting the existence or veracity of the alleged incident or incidents, especially when photographs of the likes of the ex Temple Hall are shown. There is always a cover up allegation too. Definitely a far fetched tale for me I am afraid - a bit of sensationalism.

The Temple Hall was my last British deep sea British ship I was on in 1977. If I remember correctly . Have never noticed a picture of her on site, or is she an earlier one. Cheers JS
    Temple Hall ON. 341288
    BHP 12000
    Left her in 19.6.77.
    JS

PS if the second ship is supposed to be the Temple Hall is a different one to the one I was on. We had cranes and were a self discharger and had think it was 15 ton grabs. Joined her in 1976 in Leith , previous she had Been on the Austrralian coast for a few years running phosphates from that well known island north of Australia Easter Is. into Sydney, she was manned and run by an Australian outfit with Australian crew. She was managed in the UK by the same outfit that managed the Finnish Wasa which I was also on. The UK outlet was a subsidary of Salens the Scandinavia outfit. The company was known as Whitco marine and think there are others on site who were with also at one time. Cheers JS
PPS There is no 4th ship on my iPad. JS

The first picture is said to be of the Durang Medan, the ship at the centre of the story.

#6. Vernon certainly does not look like the Temple Hall I was on. Unless I am hallucinating and was only there in my dreams.i have a friend out here who was there with me at the time. Will ask him when he gets home from his wanderings. She also had a CP propellor. This certainly is spooky. Anyone who worked with Whitco in the 70s ? JS.
This has really got me going , I hate mystery’s with no answer, I have looked up on google ships O.N.s and can’t see 341288. My discharge book shows the ships stamp and all relevant info. Requiresd at the time. I would swear that is not the same Temple Hall I was mate on in 76/77. I went there following a trip on the Finnish Wasa also managed by Whitco Marine. This was after being made redundant from JIJacobs. From Whitco went into the North Sea chasing work. Was a bad time job wise and it only went from bad to worse. Others can say what a Great life , others can tell the truth . But when it’s the only life you knew, you were stuck with it. JS

They won’t open on my iPad. All I can say is if and that’s a big if is the same ship. And she was reengined my pal will know as he was part of the Australian team who worked on her in Australia. I can’t even visualise her being used as a trench and pipe laying vessel , not by the set up of one I brought down from Singapore once. The mystery will clarify itself at some future date. It has been known that certain info posted by Google who get their info. From others are not infallible. Cheers JWS
