Thanks for the replies.
My father was Henry Hume Arton, born 19/04/1910 in Stretford, Manchester. His discharge book no. R26709 (in this they has entered his middle name as Hugh).
I know he was in Campbeltown and later Milford Haven (where he was possibly engaged in the PLUTO project)
He served on HMRT Salvonia, Prudent and St. Olaves.
I have attached a scan of the page in his discharge book but as you can see it has very little information.

I think that possibly you will have to get his actual CRS10 which should have all his Ships and info on it. Best bet I guess!
His Record should be held in this Series at the NA Kew.

Thanks for the reply. I have a photo of the Midhurst dad was on, she was a collier. Apart from one tanker, the Iroquois I have a photo of) and his time on rescue guys and for his years after the war when he was still on salvage guys up until 1952, all other ships in his discharge book are Blue Star ships.

Thanks Deepsea, One rarely hears about the Rescue Tugs. But they did sterling works on many occasions. I was sent to T124T after I left "Vindi" as thay gave you promotion to JOS with the pay jump. After some training in Campbetown I was sent to the "Jaunty" and later the "Assiduous". It was an interesting time and those tugs could weather storms and wild seas like nothing else. We all got paid off in Jan -Mar 1947

I remeber a film being mad e about the Rescue Tugs in which a young lady became the 'wife' of the next skipper in line when one failed to return. Does anyone remember this or the film about the sinking tanker where some of the crew went back aboard and saved her. One scene had the Chief Engineer cooking spuds in a bucket from a steam pipe.
