Default Tranquil WEE Places you have visited in MN

    Hi Guys & Gals,
An entirely new theme...Most of us have visited the bigger coastal cities of the world, like New York, Sydney, Montreal, Lisbon, Durban, Hamburg, London and not forgetting LEITH etc.
What nice Wee places have you visited that you have fond memories of, that had beautifull scenery, where the peope were friendly and laid back and generaly not contaminated by city life etc etc..
I'll start the ball rolling with one of many I visited.. BOTTWOOD NEWFOUNDLAND. our cargo from there was big reels of newsprint paper to New York. Of course this was in the early 50s, so may be contaminated by now, but it fitted the categories I've mentioned.
    lets hear from you
    Regards Frank..

I did botwood several times on the caslon and the caxton.Paper boats out of manchester. The only things I can remember about botwood are ,the place was dry and we had to find a bootlegger if we wanted a drink.I had a local girlfrien who was about four inches taller thanme(i,m 5.10) who used to call me her slimey limey. Also it was cold
Another place was LLandulas in north wales picking up stone on a coaster. There was nothing there but a post office, this was 1952.
there are several others which are in my book which one day will be published

Hey John, We paid off a coaster In LLandulas In 70's, nothing there just a jetty and the quarry, we had to climb about a million steps to the top with all our gear, found a little boozer ( as you do ) and got a lift off one of the locals back to Liverpool, two of the lads were Geordies, put them on the train at Lime St to Newcastle, happy days.
That jetty Is still there, pass by all the time when holidaying In north Wales.
    All the best,
    Colin.

    Well Frank
although i think that Wales is definately a very lovely place, one must remember that Bonnie Scotland is just as good, with all the rolling Hills etc,but you have one up on me there,as although i have heard a lot about Scotland from my Daughter in the UK i myself have never been there, but am planning to see it when next in the UK for sure!
Thats where the Ancestors came from! Great Granda from Novar,Evaton,Inverness. and Great Grandma from Inverklip,Largs,Scotland!
    Cheers

    Default Happy memories

How about Lexios(Portugal)Dumai(Indonesia),Elsinore(Denmark) ,Zamboanga(Phillipines)Santander,Cadiz,Seville(Spa in),many other ports where the locals were friendly and pleasant.Unfortunately the memory has gone,in some respects, but memories of many happy days, particularly Kiwi.Alan
