    It's on days like that that the entry in the engine room log book that says changed over to bridge control is worth it's weight in gold

    The ferries name may be "Excellent", but it's navigation defiantly is not. Both anchors still in the hawse pipe, so no attempt to use anchors to pull up or dredge onto the berth.

    Going back to the 1980's I have seen the side thrusters used as a brake on ferries , there were so many seabed cables in Portsmouth harbour that dropping anchors was avoided
