It was the T.T. Bedford and was owned by Blandford shipping company. Hearsay said it would be one of the biggest tankers in the world when it was being built,but was the age when everybody was building very big and trying to outdo the competition in size and speed, and going round the cape to Europe as then too big for Suez canal.

Were those Blandford tankers those with the weird shaped tower like accommodation with tiny bridge wings? Believe they were something to do with Fred Olsen line as when they were recruiting they were offering top dollar wages. Only time I came across them was when I was on a tanker in St. croix and one of them had sailed some time previously and the shore had discovered a huge shortage in the outturn figure and on contacting the ship, the ship discovered they had completely forgotten to discharge one of its centre cargo tanks.

The 'Beaver' boats were TEV Turbo Electric Vessel Used to upset the Bo'sun as they spewed oil all over the after deck
