Re: Lake Victoria Tragedy
Interesting story of the Scotsman in that article Chris.
He was rowing across the Atlantic from New York to Scotland in a home made boat, He left New York last May.
Unfortunately his electrics let him down then in 18 foot waves 800 miles off Lands End he was in Difficulties.
He was rescued by an oil tanker and it is bound for..... New York. his boat is being towed by the tanker,
All that effort for nothing. how frustrating is that.

Re: Lake Victoria Tragedy
Have another one here at the moment Brian, some lone yachtsman on his way to make his name for sailing round the world. Gets into difficulties and puts out a mayday and expects everyone to come to his aid. Ad. Lib. Is the headlines for a few days until the story loses its attraction. They never remark on the people who have to drop everything and go to their aid. Should be mandatory before anyone makes such attempts to take on the sea as an adversary, they should first be examined by a shrink to see if they are mentally competent , and also by a board of mariners to see if they are also competent to handle a craft of any description. Incompetent people are not allowed on our roads why should they be allowed on our oceans. Cheers JWS.
