it looks like the group "Sealink Historic Ferries" have purchased the ex Sealink , British Rail Ferry HORSA from Greek owners and will be returning her to the UK under tow , nice to hear of conservationists winning one for a change, anyone ever heard of this group

Re: MV Horsa
I normally think preservation of old ships is a total Money Pit but this is probably one of the few organisations that actually got to this stage and surprisingly enough it was the first I've heard of this one I know there was lots of futile attempt to rescue TS Dover which I believe is still rotting away on the Tees if it hasn't been dismantled yet but this one looks a real possibility

Des, our two Tassie ferries here in Melbourne were at one time Italian ferries.

Re: MV Horsa
There have been so many hopeful preservation is that have fallen by the wayside and in my opinion they were probably better ships that have ended up on the Scrapheap for preservation but this one looks really well on his way . I don't know what it's going to cost and how much they expect to make from it and if they're hoping for lottery grants or whatever they're looking at the funding but my understanding now is that as far as they have got it's been basically on crowdfunding I think this must be a really good organisation and they have got there act together well I hope it's not too badly in need of refit and I would love to see it in the traditional Sealink colour with a blue Hull and the Red Funnel with the direction arrows on that shows which way the British Rail board were thinking half the time forward half the time backwards

Re: MV Horsa
As I said in #8 in answer to the question put in #7 there seems to be very little financial information available but my understanding from something that I read was that the contract to purchase the fairy had been signed I'm not sure how setting concrete that is or how correct that fact is
