    Default 2018 interesting

    this editorial appeared on gcaptain and it is one persons view of Maritime Matters in 2018. Although mentioning Crewless automated vessels he places greater emphasis on 3D and 4D matters, especially with regard to the use of these printers to manufacture spare parts. These printers can be obtained for less than £1000.

    I thought that the low cost 3D printers produced a kind of plastic of course the scope of technology does move on

    Monument: Mercantile Marine Memorial - WW1
    Erection date: 12/12/1928
    ;

    Not only a remembrance of the MM 110 years on, war end 1918.

    This year is an anniversary of the very Monument: Mercantile Marine Memorial - WW1

    {On the south attic face, in metal letters standing proud of the stone:}
    1914 - 1918

    To the glory of God and to the honour of twelve thousand of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets.

    {On a bronze plaque on the base of this facade:}

    To the glory of God and to the honour of twelve thousand of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who have no grave but the sea. 1914 - 0918.
    {Engraved on the north attic face:}
    1914 - 1918

    George V should have been on duty to unveil this but he was seriously ill so Queen Mary took over, the first time she had played such a role.

    I just looked it up out of interest and I see they do it with a sintered metal it's obviously a lot more advanced than what I thought and even the top end machines are not horrendously expensive
