I read somewhere that the UK arm is profitable and is not under threat, only the US division.

Re: Oh shock horror, Toys r us are in trouble
Seems Toys R Us is between the extensive range and lower pricing of online retail and the theatrics and free entertainment offered by toy stores such as Hamleys, Lego and Disney stores.
"Toys R Us does not fit into either of these market spaces".
"Toys R Us has aisles and aisles stacked high with products, but they will never win that fight with the internet."

Re: Oh shock horror, Toys r us are in trouble
I went into a 'Toys R Us' (Southampton) some years ago and couldn't believe the amount of cheap (though far from 'cheap') plastic tat. I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have.

the trade in retail is changing fast , but you always announce closures in the run up to Christmas , there are some procedures that have twelve weeks to run , so do it now and all is in place for the new tax year 1stApril

Never been to Toys r us, still love Hamleys - the finest toys in the world.
Visiting London Christmas time still go to Hamleys, it is a must,
for children of all ages.
