Re: World Cavalier
Hello all,
Sorry I'm so far behind everyone else.
I was looking for photos of the size of 'World Cavalier', for my grandchildren and came across this thread.
I was 2nd Mate when we went to Kharg Island in 1981, two days became 2 weeks.
Standing to every night through some incident outside our control.
We were alongside 'sea island' and I think it was 'Olympic Resource' (forgive any bad spelling), inside us. The island was rocketed and both ships survived.
it wasn't a great time but the 'bonus' paid for my wife to join us in Singapore.

Re: World Cavalier
Another Quickie,
One morning I was sleeping and the cabin phone rang, rare, (unless it was the Captain or Chief for drinks).
Good morning Graham, Peter here, there is a situation you might be interested in.
Shorts on and running.
'The 3rd mate thinks he's seen something before that rain cloud covered it up'
He really had seen a life boat.
Three survivors in it.
Sorry, I cant remember the name of the ship but the Straits Times covered the story.
That day I fired my first and my fourth Schermuly line throwing.
And the two in between.
We rely on these and they proved to be poor.
Pull the trigger, click.
Pull the trigger, click.
pull the trigger, slooooooosh, wiiiiiiiiiish.
missed
Pull the trigger, slooooooosh, wiiiiiiiiiiish, ignored.
they caught the third,
This is a real account of what happened.
We dropped them off at Singapore on our way passed
