Re: Tracing family members Merchant Navy details
If still available his CRS10 Should be here ?
Jones Rees to Jones Robert Edward | The National Archives
Cannot seem to find his CR2 Card that would have the Official Numbers of his Ships,but if the CRS10 is there then that will have his Ships anyway!
Cheers

Re: Tracing family members Merchant Navy details
"The tree on Ancestry have Probate 10th March and list his date of death:13 Jun 1941 • Pune, Maharashtra, India -
stating that his effects were left to a Mary Jones, [spinster] & Arthur John Jones [lance-bombardier HM Army] siblings?? His home address, 62, Teasdale Gardens, High Heaton Newcastle-upon-Tyne. £1,637.00 9s 4d"
Hi all. The bit above which a fellow member found for me has had me puzzled for ages mainly for the following reasons:
As far as I know, there is no Mary Jones or Arthur John Jones in my grandfathers side of the family (I have copies of the various census records), and why would he leave his effects to these two people, and not his wife (my grandmother)???

What's the CR10 and CR2 cards that someone mentioned earlier may I ask?
Apologies if the second paragraph is slightly off topic.
Thank you.

Re: Tracing family members Merchant Navy details
As far as I am aware his siblings were Ronald, Gwendoline and possibly one other (maybe Arthur, but I haven't got my paperwork with me at the moment). Who the Gladys is I have no idea however having such a common Welsh name as he did doesn't really help matters
Any idea where or how I could get a copy of his death certificate (not sure if its possible though)? Off to Google the SS British Trader
Apologies for all the questions btw

@gray-marion
Yep that's him all right. Think you are right with Gladys and Arthur being executors of the will. How do I go about viewing his Merchant navy records (i.e I'd love to see the voyages that he did, if at all possible)?
