Re: river tyne and offing
Southampton docks now no longer resemble the one we knew and sailed from.
Very few cargo ships and those that arte there are only container ships.
A large number of cruise ships but happy to say also the Red Funnel steamers till going strong.
What were once the London docks no longer exist, some now an airport the rest long gone.

The London royal group of docks i.e KG V, Victoria and Albert docks them selves are all still in existence today but not as we
knew them to be. The KG V has the London Airport along side , the Victoria Dock has had major redevelopment under the
Docklands Development Corporation, the dock is still accessible to ships but is mainly used for water sports, there is the huge
ExCel Exhibition Centre where they host the Boat Show, Car Show and all manner of things, there is also a village on the other
side. I should imagine it is a very expensive place to live, the last time I was there a few years ago, they were building homes at the Albert Dock, "Very impressive but so sad to see when you knew the Docks as we did" . Cheers JF
