I think that might well have been the next phase of his cunning plan Brian. Cheers JC

Reading through the replies I would appear to be as popular as Tony Blair here :). Also reading through the replies I honestly believe I hit the nail on the head saying that anyone 65 or over should not have had a vote in the referendum. Someone mentioned we live in a democracy, well we are supposed to live I a democracy Britain has never been democracy in the true sense of the word. It has and will always be run by the upper class and old money.
Some one mentioned euthanasia , good point, I certainly do believe in euthanasia.
If I were told tomorrow I had a terminal illness my request to my Doctors would be this, keep me as comfortable for as long as you can and when you have to keep upping the drugs to keep me pain free when I start to slip in and out of Consciousness slip me a needle and just put me to sleep. I personally do not think there is anything wrong with that. What would I achieve by doing this? saving my family grief and freeing up a bed for someone who actually may get some benefit from it.
Someone mentioned the war years I would assume that we do not have to many forum members who actually took part in the war. I am sure though some may have suffered from the impact of the war, lost Fathers and other family members. I have seen for myself the horrors of conflict. One of my first trips to sea was running food aid during the Biafrian war, The Falklands war BP tankers. I was also involved or rather the ship I was on became a casualty during the Iran Iraq war being hit by Iranian aircraft, we lost the Captain (Leggit) , the pumpman and a steward that day 17/5/1984.Have you ever smelt human flesh burning? If you are reading this while grilling your bacon make don't burn it the smell is similar. Again in the Iran Iraq war 15/9/1987 an Exocet missile through the Port bunker wing tanks and into the engine room. We were lucky that day as the rule was UMS during transit straits of Hormuz, so the only casualty that day ones under wear.
Hi Lewis.
I came from a little village in Wales, During the war my brother was at sea on tankers, his mate from school was only 16 when he was killed on his first trip, there were seven other Merchant Seamen in the Village of 300 houses, not to mention the blokes in the forces, now do you believe that these blokes if they were still alive would agree with your rubbish statement that they shouldn't have the vote and maybe even put down? And remember that the first step of extermination is always taken lightly; like the Final Solution of Fascist Germany.
Cheers Des
Lewis, just what is your definition of a democracy?
Like it or not I will agree to some extent that the polis are not the best, but DEMOCRACY is the right to vote and have your say via FREE SPEECH.
That is what the people of UK did in the referendum.
Yes we may not get the best polis to vote for but we are to blame for that as it is us who put them in.
If you do not like the ones on offer, as has been the case here in Oz, start up a new party that will do as you bid. Here in Oz we have a couple of them and they are doing OK.
Trump, like him or not is practicing what democracy is about, doing the things he promised in his electoral candidate speeches.
Which way is Lord John Prescott going to try and vote in the House of lords. Or is he being wise and keeping a low profile. JS
####lewis democracy is what you have just seen in black and white on this site your suggestion was out voted by a majority .......why is that not democracy .....euthanesia is a choice also .....and is commonly used now but without approval and against the law....you had a democratic right ...not to go to the war areas ....in peacetime.....you made a democratic choice to go to the falklands unless you were army or navy ......it is what life is about ....many on the site have suffered death around them .......sadly that is part of living this wonderful life given to us .....and with no disrespect to you this is my democratic right to make.this statement ..........but idont think you have any where near the bliar distrust held by any i know........best wishes cappy
1, Don't worry about it Lewis, you'll never be that popular
2. We have many members who served in WWII and others who were directly affected by it, if you count being bombed out three times, as myself and others were, you were not the only one who served in subsequent conflicts, I as many others did, you were not the only one to smell burning flesh or decomposing bodies, so I doubt we need any lessons from you about burning bacon. Many of us have worked with Aid programmes on the ground not just delivering it, and let me tell you from experience that is a hell of a lot different to being on board a ship, so you may think you have seen the horrors of conflict, but if you were shipboard I can assure you, you have not
At first I thought you were a bit of a comedian, but you are too self opinionated for that and believe that no one has experienced any trauma in their lives but yourself, but as we do still live in a democracy you are entitled to your opinions and because we are democratic you are free to spout any rubbish you feel fit will entertain us (or otherwise)
Lewis,
Many of us have experienced wars, and smelt the "bacon" frying. Seen many horrible deaths.
also why do you want us to be a small province of a Greater Germany, ???? are you of German stock???
We used to be Great Britain until the Quislings took us into Europe. We did not have a vote to be part of the German Empire.
Explain why you prefer to live in Europe and tell us what is the advantage of being in Europe.
Brian
