A funny thing is I never talked to my brother about it when we got together in NZ I had done a couple of trips on a scow and we sort of talked about the difference but other than that I read more about the trip in the book. I did steer the Bounty up Sydney Harbour a few years ago, but I would like to have been on that trip on the Pamir.

I think you're right Ivan, ORARI was caught up in hurricane Carrie and received the PAMIR distress signal, we were unable to
assist as ORARI had broken down and was running on one engine, we got quite a battering as we were hardly moving in the
very heavy seas. We went on to Antwerp before paying off in the Victoria dock London 04 October 1957 so I think that would be about right with what you say. Cheers JC

#20/21 There were tnt vessels in the North Sea Bill my mate was 2 engineer on one ,they also had a female AB on board ,she was built like a man. Have just seen your post 4 years too late. JS
