November the 11th We will Remember
The day of real importance is approaching fast,so let us all sit and remember the great loss of so many who bravely and unselfishly gave their lives so that we could live a peaceful and better one. (Is that hope dashed and it was all for naught??) No I think not,as long as we all do our but in life, and just learn to live with each other and in Harmony ,its hard at times but for the Thousands (possibly Millions) who gave up so much, let us one and all try even harder than ever!
So on the 11th Hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month let us pay homage to the Brave!
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget
Capture the important Day.jpg
Please do remember to observe the 1 Minute Silence.
Thank You to ALL

Re: November the 11th We will Remember
I know there are members here who hold this day in great respect as their post show, there must be so many members and guest on the site who have lost relatives from long ago, for me it was great uncles in WW1, uncles in WW11 and cousin Billy
an 18 year old conscript who was one of the first to be killed in the Korean war. I echo your thoughts Doc, there is no glory in
war. JC

Re: November the 11th We will Remember
I sailed with `Nutty` Curran, of Liverpool, when I was on the old FRANCONIA,
He survived the Lancastria by sliding down a lifeboat fall, he badly burned his hands.
`Nutty` was a Fireman and Cunard afterwards gave him a job for life, and he could just please himself when and what he wanted to do.
After he was picked up out of the sea they were taken to Plymouth and treated then they were all sworn to secrecy ," it never happened." or Germany would have used it as Propaganda.
Nutty was a well know amateur boxer and when he arrived home he fought at the Stadium in Liverpool with both hands still bandaged from the burns sadly he lost the bout.
Photos of the sinking below.
Cheers
Brian

Re: November the 11th We will Remember
My losses are an uncle ,killed at just 18, a cousin who was dropped into Arnhem, a cousin who lost 5 years of his life in a prison camp and remembering my wife`s mother, father and baby sister killed in the London Blitz by one of the last rockets to fall on London. Lest we forget............Brian W.
