A pumped up bully of a man with very little knowledge to my way of thinking at the time, who always insisted by night and by day the officer of the watch did his 4 hours on the wing of the bridge good weather and bad, and when ships fitted with Radar would never allow to be switched on. In later years heard he had the same as a lot of us to resort to offshore work, he went to West Africa, lasted 1 tour, couldn't handle a ship himself for all those years at sea was incompetent when it came to the push.
