Up until 1967, all Cunard ships were registered in Liverpool, as this was where their head office was based. Afterwards Cunard moved to Southampton and the first ship to get the new registry was the Queen Elizabeth 2.
    I always remember seeing:
    Queen Elizabeth 2
    Southampton
    painted on her stern.

The QEQ2 is actually the Q4.
Withe advent of the Boeing planes, which allowed passengers to travel across the Atlantic cheaply, Cunard decided on building a new ship.Cunard sought funding from the UK Government. The government questioned why people should pay to travel second class, when they could travel more cheaply on a plane.
Cunard scrapped the plans and came up with the revolutionary QE2.

Vic, Cunard tried a joint venture with BOAC to offer flights in the mid sixties, maybe you can inform us of the outcome of this venture?.

Fouro, I believe the strategy was successful. There was a program onthe box a few weeks ago about it.
Sail out, stay N.Y. a fly back or vice versa if you wanted.
