Re: Any members of the crew of queen mary>
I know someone out here who was bellboy on her in 1948. I have not seen him around for the past 6 months or so as believe he hasn't been well. However will be meeting a group of people on Friday who maybe able to pass a message to him, if he is still with us. The persons name is Dave Siggers. Cheers JS

Sadly so true, but the new generation of passengers do not see it that way, all they see is a cruise and a good time.

Queen Mary.... Ref. my post on the Q.M. and knowing someone who was on her. I have been in touch him via the phone and he didn't know it was coming up to her 80th. birthday. He perked up as soon as I mentioned ships, however he isn't travelling too well at the moment. His wife says he is in a photograph as a bellboy with the captain in a book " Captains of the Queens". Reeled off a few names of various masters of such but believe he was with a Capt. Ingworth in the photo. His time with Stateships if anyone knew him out here was on most of them, but his wife says he and she vividly remember one called the Poseidon, which was renamed, as they went to see the movie and had to leave the cinema half way through. The similar thing happened to me and the wife as went to see also in the uk, and as she was staying on board she couldn't sleep either. If there is anyone from Cunard still looking for people of that byegone era, I am sure he would be only too pleased to talk about. Cheers John S

.
. Hi John,
Cunard does not exist any more , Cunard left ship owning many years ago. They sold out to Kaverna, an engineering Co. who did not want the only ship left in the fleet, QE2, so it was sold to another Company who were into Construction. Trafalgar House, they didn't want QE2 either , so it was then sold to Carnival of Miami.
it is only a name that was bought by Carnival Cruises an American Company. A sad end for a once great company
What happened??? Cunard was BIG not only in ships but a BIG fleet, Liners and cargo ships on the Atlantic, Cargo ships on the Medi run, Oil tankers, Moss & Co. Port Line, and Brocklebanks all under the Cunard umbrella. even an Air Line. Then one day NOTHING. Where did it all go.??
I sent you an email
Cheers
Brian
