#199...Sorry Ivan, but I didn't invent the 'Phantom Major', he was a historical fact. Nor have I any wish to denigrate Captain Cook or Lord Nelson. They were both great Englishmen, and deserve their reputations, as do many other great Englishmen. But it is also historical fact that the 'Scottish Renaissance' brought to Great Britain the world lead in science, technology, engineering, medicine, economics and other fields. I think Gordon Brown is a very clever man, he just has no charm or television 'presence' - my personal opinion.

yes Gordon Brown is very clever , he savaged many British pension pots taking £150,000,000,0000 from them since the 1997 tax increases on pensions , sold off the Gold reserve at its lowest price (£250 $/.oz )for thirty years , lost control over immigration , increased UK debt by 5% of GDP , Increased the tax burden during his term as chancellor by 51% , Yes he is about as clever as Bonnie and Clyde .

I'm sitting here laughing, because they say you get the politicians you deserve. I'm not sure about Gordon Brown, and can't be bothered to check; but I know Tony Blair and David Cameron were elected to parliament by their English constituents. Scots didn't have much to do with it.
