Think of this Mr. Salmond and all those Yes voters

Rodney, 1937 must have been a good year, I was 8 months old before you arrived on the scene, so hope the world was in a stable condition. I always blame the wife for the start of the war as she was born 1939. I knew 2 ex Barnados blokes out here who had been in the Royal Marines in UK just as the usual foot sloggers. They emigrated out here a long time before I did probably during the 10 pound pom era. Both joined the Australian army and at least one who I was friendly with rose to Colonel, the other also to commissioned rank. Both fought in Vietnam as part of the Australian force. Although both of these had a tough up bringing as regards parents, both lived their lives as good and honest citizens. I think you see more wayward children coming from well off familys than you do from those who had to struggle. One of the problems today a large percentage of kids are too well looked after and know they can literally get awy with most things they choose to do. JS

I started work at the age of ten, weekends and holidays on a pig farm. Then at 12 took on a paper round for 12 and 6 for a 7 day week. Worked all my life, owned two houses in UK along with tow pubs and a restaurant. Here in Oz built three houses and fullrenovated one other. In reply to jim #136, yes maybe it is hard today to raise a deposit but it can be done. Here in Oz we have the younger genertaion screaming that thye will never own a house, why, because they want the lot to start with. Four bedrooms all with en suite, swimming pool etc. But if they were willing to open their eyes and move out of the centre of twon away from the leafy susburbe they would find plenty of property at reasonable prices. In our day you started small and worked you way up, this lot want to start at the top. Only one job starts at the top, digging graves.

back to Scotland?? if we do start a campaign to go back into conflict with this lot isis I am sure all be it the young father had a family and living in Scotland the scots are always up for a fight{well they were with me} will that sway the vote to stay with us as Scottish regiments nearly always at the for front with us I don't want the politics of war to come into everyday Scotland voting ??jp

If Scotland becomes an Independent State, it will need to have Embassies in all the countries of the world and Diplomatic Staff to run them. I wonder how much that would cost them, Have they done that in their costing.

and I would still want my ship, Britannia, bringing back to England.

They shouldnt be too worried about money. England already gives billions away to other foreign countrys, why not also to them. JS

I believe they already do "keep England solvent", hence the desire to keep it within the union. If Scotland pulls the plug ... bye,bye to the rest of you.

John, I was simply saying that many Englishmen say - and have done so for a long time - England/English when they should be saying Britain/British. Scots do not say Scotland/Scottish when they mean Britain/British. Ditto Welsh.
