Default Launch of HMS Queen Elizabeth

This article was in the Sunday Express.
    2 things though
Firstly why does every Naval Contract always run way over budget? I know the only section to be built on the Tyne was completed early and on budget so what happened to the rest to push it so far over budget?
Secondly although the First Sea lord is correct in stating the importance of the Maritime trade to the U.K. with 5% of our imports coming by sea and him acknowledging the part paid by the MN, he failed to mention that very few of the ships bringing in those goods are British Owned, British Flagged and British Manned.

The UK economy is the fourth largest in the world. Its ports play a vital role by handling over 95% of UK import and export tonnage – in 2010 the value of trade through British ports was around £340 billion.

    • The value of goods transmitted by sea 51.2%

    • The value of goods transmitted via sea in 2011 was equivalent to 34.0% of the UK‘s total economic output for the year.

    • Imports accounted for £303 billion of total sea goods values, with exports representing £210 billion.
