    Default Ex Mariner 1978-1983

    Hi There

My name is Clive Bay after leaving the National Sea training College on Dec 22nd 1977 I spent some five years in the Merchant Navy before going offshore drilling with a company called Noulder Marine Drilling which was part of the Furness Withy group.
My First ship which I joinned as a Deck Boy was the Deseado, a Shaw Savill vessel operated by Royal Mail line between the UK and the East coast of South America. Not necessarily in order and not complete as my memory fails me on some but over the following five years I served on the following ships
    King William (Cayzer Irvine)
    Paludina (Shell Tanker)
    Dashwood (Buries Marks)
    Ashurst (Stephenson Clark Shipping)
    Dallington (Stephenson Clark Shipping)
    Pulborough (Stephenson Clark Shipping)
    Oropesa (Furness Withy)
    Royal Prince (Furness Withy)
    Mount Newman (Furness Withy)
    Manchester Challenge (Furness Withy)
    Oroya (Furness Withy)
    Lord Kelvin (Furness Withy)

If anyone was on any of these ships between the years 1978-1983 and knew of me I would love to hear from you or if you just have stories of your times upon any of these ships equally I would be joyed to hear from you.

After leaving the Merchant NavyI spent a couple of years offshore drilling, mostly on the Morecambe Flame, but a brief stint on the Shelf Driller of the coast of Gt Yarmouth and on the Uncle John in the Ekofisk field, again if anyone has any memoirs of their time on these rigs I'd love to hear from them.

    Regards

    Clive Bay

Was on the Pullborough once just to see a friend. However must have been long before the time you mention and may even be an earlier ship. This would have been the late 50s or early 60s. Cheers John S.
