But we have to ensure that it is restricted to a SEA related dictionary of sea lore, with no comical (or otherwise) comments there-in, I know that will be hard at times for all of us

Ref #30. Thought a charpoy was a bedside potty Cappy, like the posh people had instead of a bucket. John Sabourn

I hope robpage's idea can be achieved. It would be a shame if the terminology is lost......It would also give an inkling to the lumpy jumpers as to what some of the chaps are actually saying! ..I already have a phrase selected for a sea view property but need enlightened as to whether it has a smidgen of decorum around it.

Marion Ive sailed with a lot from around the corner from Aberdeen and have gone the whole tour of duty and never known what they are saying. I dont think even the Aberdonians knew what they were talking about. Fisherman seem to also have a language of their own. Cheers John Sabourn

I had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in North Shields in a 2 bedroom flat. No kitchen and no bathroom. They had a loo in the backyard and lived there their whole married life (not in the loo) Those that did have a real bathroom with a bath used to keep the coal in the bath, was too cold to use. Still this climate change will do the world a lot of good for some, but will entail finding somewhere else to put the coal. The next Green meeting I am going to expound my views on the good points of climate change. They are so negative about such things. If you still have your charpoy hang onto it, it might be worth something in years to come. Cheers John Sabourn
