Lawson speaks out on Europe

Margaret Thatcher negotiated a rebate based on the mismatch of the CAP to our needs , Tony Blair after pressure relinquished a huge share of that rebate . My question is does teh CAP benefit the Welsh Sheep farmer in the wilds of North Wales , earning a pittance , or the rich Sussex arable farmer sat in his Range Rover , looking at Tractors worth £250,000 . Well I think I know who benefits from That Common Agricultural Policy , The Southern Europeans , The Balkans , The French , and the odd agricultural baron here . If Dave can renegotiate that deal , then I can see the point of Europe a lot clearer

Yes Rob there was certainly a lot of money made in some country's by "farmers" with a little small holding and maybe a goat,I remember seeing this lady author (English) on a TV chat show.She retired to Ireland and bought a cottage way out in the wilds which did not have an electricity supply and for her tobe connected up would've cost a fortune.She was told that if she bought a cow she could put the cottage down as a farm,maybe a dairy farm and electricity was required for the milking etc.She bought the cow applied for the electricity supply grant which was accepted and she was connected up.I always remember her she called the cow "Electric"she was a well known English author but I cannot remember her name now.

For Britain, there is the indignity of common sense applications of national law being overturned by a non-national judiciary beyond the borders. The rapid loss of our Australian manufacturing base mainly to China is there to stay for the reasons already posted. We have all been duped, cunningly, thoroughly and more than likely, permanently.
A bunch of self serving lawyers and union hierarchy with an all consuming greed pretending to be competently running the biggest business in this country. No wonder it's crashed.

Not all of them are as democratic as the UK by a long way , The principle was set up by Churchill and Bevin amongst others , This I believe is as much at fault in the rotten core of Europe as the EC is . How could you have a Human Rights Judiciary with six judges , Ukraine , Albania , Serbia , Romania , Russian federation , and Macedonia . It was founded on good principles Richard , but a bit like having a Jimmy Saville Home for young Children it has gone slightly adrift along the way

A friend of mine who has relations in farming was surprised when his land was invaded by Canadian Geese.
Now the law is that you cannot drive them away, so he looked for info. from the relevant department.
Now before we go any further my mates cousin wasn't into conservation as such he was more interested in getting rid of the bloody birds as he put it.
The guy from the ministry arrived and announced that as the birds has decided to camp on his lands there was nothing he could do about it, as it was illegal to remove them.
After much discussion on the rights and wrongs of the birds interfering with the farmers plans to grow crops, the guy from the ministry announced that he could get grants under EU legislation to protect his income and the birds..
Now the daft part is the farmer ended up getting more money from the EU grants than he would have done by growing a crop.
He (the farmer) had sudden conversion to becoming an environmentalist, and worried about the blood birds flying off leaving him poor.
Needless to say they stayed, he received money for doing nowt. He was happy the birds were happy, the man from the ministry was happy and so was the EU.
This is a true story which happened a few years ago.

Basically Vic he was lied to , You can shoot Canada Geese , on your fields , then pluck and eat the bloody things legally under terms of what is known as General Licence , rather than post it here ,, this is the link for this years

The bloody things have a lot of feathers and if you get an old one they are tougher than Manchester Tart .
