MN
Much has been written about the MN, most of it due to ignorance.
To the majority of the populace of the UK a ship is a ship and no more than that.
The vast majority of the UK populace have never seen a ship being built (even in the heyday of the yards). Even technical people in shoreside jobs do not realise the technicalities involved in building and operating a ship.
Running a car is easy, take out breakdown insurance, car breaks down, can’t do the same at sea, expertise is onboard to facilitate repairs.
Most cargo ships in the sixties could generate 1.5mw of electrical power and over 10,000 hp. of engine power
Remember most people in the UK went to work and went home at night, MN personnel went to sea ate and worked an slept on the job. I believe it made us better people.

Ask the kids where the presents for to day came from, the young: Santa, others Mum and Dad. The older kids say Tesco / Asda / Toys "R" US ETC.
Maybe, we should look at the big boy's, the stores and businesses that use containers and ships to import to help sponsor amd raise awarness ?

Cool mate. Not the most common name in the world
