I used to hear guys at sea talking about The Wedding House I'd never been in it and I did't know where it was.The other night at the lights bottom of Upper Parliament street there it was it seemed to stick out like a sore thumb I suppose its with all the demolition thats gone on around it that makes it more noticeable. The name The Wedding House was in lights.
Regards.

bill Norman made boson on the Aeneas or Jason i did a coast with him he changed his name i think to Layton{i think} because the hassle when on the china coast it was that bad he stayed aboard with him being {Liverpool chinese} good guitar player and a good laugh? he often played on new brighten ballroom and gave guitar lessons he taught TONY ALLEN and tony made a good living out of the music industry.jp
John,
I am glad to hear that. Norman was a thoroughly nice guy and it was a pleasure to sail with him. I seem to recall Jock Flett was Bosun and Johnny Rowan in the Lamp Room. Both ended up in the Liverpool Shore Gang.
I can't say I remember his expertise on the guitar but then it is over 50 years ago I sailed with him and I probably had me head into the Nicholls Concise Guide.

Got sent an appointment for the old Walton hospital closed know to have a chat and get things explained before they went ahead with op with the doc. When i arrived a young nurse took me into a little side room gave me a gown and said strip naked and get into this gown plz ok........... Standing there bollock naked in front of her i asked her to help me fasten the gown about 2 sizes to small so she did. Right she said sit there the doc wont be long. In walks the doc looks at me : Why are you undressed he said i only want to show you the simple operation you will be in and out in 4 hours ? I looked all over that bloody hospital for that bloody nurse toilets/ wards/ cafe,s/ car park,s/ lifts/ You know the old saying he who laugh,s last !!!!!!!!!!! :pointlaugh: Terry.
bill i joined the Jason{i think} in KG5 Glasgow up the gangway and looked for the boson i went down onto the well deck the only one working was this Chinese fella so in pigeon English you tell me were boson is!!!!! this fella with the best scouse accent was Norman you must be the new f...ing Peggy? i had worked on the demolition before going to BF as a top man burner cutting steelwork down as a young lad he thought i was taking the Micky so you are not frightened of heights no i said so the first job was going right to the top of the mast i did it no problem even though he could have been in deep sh.t for having a deck boy going up the mast but we hit it off right away as you say bill one of the best was Norman.JP
That sounds just like the Norman I knew John. If Dennis O'Brian (OB) got wind of you having been up the main mast you and Norman would have been in trouble.
Happy days.

I seem to recall Norman drank Green Gremlins (Guinness) and cider (Black Velvet?) all the time.
