Sea Odyssey

spent Sunday viewing this wonderful pageant. never seen so many people gathered in one place since i opened my wallet in the Baltic Fleet. Show began at the Queens dock on Chaloner Street and ended at the Albert Dock via Mann Island. We were really impressed with the show, especially the expertise of the manipulators of the giant puppets--- no safety measures or pc here! re comments about parking, i parked about half a mile south of Queens dock- on main road , no parking restrictions and a pleasant walk.

This T.V. program has now been cancelled for tonight and I am told by the BBC Audience Help Line that it will now be shown at 8.30pm next Monday 30th April 2012

The documenary of the Sea Odyssey was on BBC1 last night but was only shown in the NW Region.The event was over three days around the streets of Liverpool but the documentary was crammed into a half hour show.But its still worth a look you will the size of these "puppets" and a look around Albert Dock and Pier Head.I dont know how you get onto it I went onto BBC iplayer the title to enter is Liverpools Titanic Girl and that will take you to it.I understand that this can be picked up around the world.

Missed it last night, just watched on i player. How spectacular, and what a boost for liverpool, really puts the city on the map.

My take on the Titanic has always been,big ship,unsinkable,hit an iceberg,sunk, people survived and people died end of!!!It was'nt until i watched this half hour video Liverpool Titanic Girl that the aftermath of this tragedy struck home.I had never thought about the widows and children who were left behind after this tragedy.What I have been trying to find out did the relatives of those who lost their lives recieve componsation from White Star??? I know the little girls mother was awarded £2.20 PER MONTH i think it was for four of them to survive on,survive not live!!!They lived in a big house in Empress Road,Kensington,the mother wanted to downsize to a smaller house so the rent was more affordable problem was she could not afford the removal costs.Southampton a classroom there at school nearly every pupil had a relative lost,and streets near the docks lost many.So the question is were these families compensated by White Star

JIM i think there was a fund set up in the US but i doubt if a stoker with 4 kids would get the same as an officer with 4 kids but that was the class system them days? i did visit and also watched the odyssey and i did look at the tragedy from a different view i must say there was many a tear shed when the manikins meet up it would bring a tear to a glass eye.JP:thumb_ship2:

not sure if everyone was compensated. the crew that survived got nothing, they were left with what they wore. no travel fare, no money, no thanx from white star line. again a class thing, their families may have been, who knows.
