Thanks for the link Vernon,I wondered where she had got to, It is seven weeks since I left her in Sydney,
She is approaching the big bridge that runs across the Canal, built by the Japanese.
Cheers

Q.e suez
Hi Capt Kong, Having spent 18 months in Egypt at Kabret Point and sailed thro the canal for many years later I do not remember a bridge across the canal, but my last trip was in 1975. Have I missed something.

Yes there is a huge bridge and highway across the Canal now, it must be a couple of hundred feet high, I went through in 2005, It had a Japanese flag alongside the Egyptian flag on top so I assume the Japs built it.
It showed up very clear on the sattelite picture as the QE was approaching.
I have a photo somewhere, I will post it if I can find it.

Hi Capt Kong, thanks for the info about the bridge, it seems a huge task to build such a thing, but I am glad my days of transitting the canal are over. You appear to have had a very varied career at sea and your knowledge is a very welcome to the site. As you live not too far from myself perhaps we could meet up for a pint, onlyh one for i will be driving. Rgds Denis
