my son has been out there in al khobar for over 2 years now,he loves it.TOM.
Hi Tom I am just having a large whisky to celebrate your birthday, that is my excuse for the one who is sat alone watch TV .
I was in Al Khobar in February 1979 it was just a primitive one camel town in those days. near 33 years ago.
Probably all changed for the better now.

MY SON IN AL KHOBAR SAYS ITS ALL CHANGED OUT THERE NOW,BIG SHOPING MALLS,OFFICE BLOCKS,MARINAS AND SO ON.PROBERBLY SPENDING ALL THAT OIL MONEY MADE ON ALL THE SWEAT WE ALL LOST UP THERE,AND ALL THE CRAP PLACES WE WENT TO UP THERE.MOSTLY JUST A JETTY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA!!!!!I REMEMBER GOING UP TO ABADAN AND ALL I HAD ON MY FEET WAS A PAIR OF EX RAF FUR LINED FLYING BOOTS,VERY WARM ON DECK,ZIPS DOWN UNTILL I GOT A PAIR OF THOSE CANVAS SLIP ONS WITH BICYCLE TYRE SOLES.REMEMBER THEM??? THEY WERE REALY RUBBISH BUT DID AT THE TIME.

Here have another drink on me Tom, all that dust in Khobar has given me a thirst.
The Hospital there really did have Rats and cockroaces galloping around. and my leg was sewn up in wire sutures that is only used for sewing up cattle, camels and horses.
The hospital here at home was amazed at the sight of it, never seen anything like it.
By gum I need that drink after thinking of that.
