Okay, so here's the photo I mentioned earlier. Just noticed that I referred to my 'parents' in that post - that would be my mother and step-father. Oops. Anyway, I think a lovely photo of Queen Mary 2's flag.

Possibly Prince Charles might be a better target and probably more accessible. No disrespect to him but i doubt Prince Philip cares at his age whereas Charles likes to get his teeth into things. Also he has no qualms about overriding bureaucracy to put his views across. I say go for it Ivan.
Good suggestion Tony, also as I now have a letter from Lord Prescott I will contact him and ask him to raise it in the House of Lords whose members certainly owe allegiance to Her Majesty.
Soon as I've finished sandpapering this bloody hallway I'll start putting some thoughts together
Ivan
I was going to say how absolutely astounding, but being a senior Citzen and knowing the good old days when i think i started on 16 Pounds a month way back in forgotten times Im not the least surprised that Cunard, or is it Trafalgar house or what ever would sell their soul in favour of another Flag and no doubt the cheapest crew list they can muster up, no it doesnt surprise , the arrogance the meaness its all happened at the top end of the street for years.
Theres one definite way to be a rich unhappy Billionare, own a few ships under a Non Tax Flag, Bermuda or Monrovia, The British Govt should stand up and tell them if their Company is a Registered British company then there are rules and regs, requiring British Tax to be paid. Glenn
Glenn,
Whilst I can sympathize with your views, owning a few ships under any flag in the present climate is a sure quick fire route to the bankruptcy court. And things are getting worse.
Bill
I have just seen on the SHIPS MOVEMENTS SITE.
The QUEEN ELIZABETH is now under a flag of convenience
She is now Registered under the BERMUDA FLAG.
The QUEEN should get onto CUNARD and have her name removed.
I wrote to CUARD the other day but havent recieved an answer yet.
[QUOTE=Captain Kong;70828]The name of the Port of Registry, SOUTHAMPTON will be painted out and HAMILTON will be in its place, so it is not just a badge on a red ensign.
On the old QUEEN MARY, in Long Beach, they fly the US ensign but the name Liverpool is still on the stern.
I have been on it several times, twice this year, and am going back for four days in January, she is still the best ship in the world. and well worth a visit. A Stateroom for two is only £78 a night. cheap.
Yes I agree, a petition is a good idea, what have we got to lose?, the last Petition worked.
Cheers
Brian.

BEST SHIP IN THE WORLD
Brian, I fully agree with you, these were taken in 1990 when I was cruising out of California. My late wife came out and we spent a couple of nights on board.
There will never be another one like the old Queen Mary.......now they are just a load of old "shoe boxes" !!!
Cheers,
Glan
At very least if Cunard are to be allowed to continue to use the British Monarchy and ex Monarchy's names on their ships, no matter where they are registered there is surely a case for the British Government to demand a hefty tax payment. I feel that not only should we be writing to Prince Charles we should also be writing to the Prime Minister to express our concerns. At very least they could pay Her Majesty's expenses for the year so she is not reliant on the civil list which we foot the bill for.
Does anyone know if there is an avenue for communicating directly with the Queens Private Secretary?
Hi Tony,
I found this website, The official website of the British Monarchy. It looks like they don't respond to email, but I'm sure letters could be faxed as well as mailed.
Contact the Royal Household
Maybe this will help.
Best of luck,
