This article will make your blood boil

As you will all doubtless be aware, a new local planning framework will shortly be going before the Westminster Parliament. I have wriite to both Lord Prescott and to Bill Cash MP. (Ok he is a Tory with some nutty ideas, but he is also leading the campaign in parliament to fix the problems with the new planning framework;) ), raising this case and asking them to bring forward suitable amendments to the new framework to protect all our war memorials from this sort of commercialisation.

This is neither a left/right, nor a white/black issue, it's about right and wrong.

I'm also hopeful that the Royal British legion will support the e-petition.

I sent emails to mayor@tower hamlets, info@movingvenues and mayor@london etc. expressing my absolute disgust at the proposed christmas parties to be held in the rememberance gardens. Unfortuantly they have all been returned to me by the intended recipients, so it would appear that they are being blocked. Anybody got any other ideas as to how I may make my objeections known.

Thank you for your email. We acknowledge the concerns you have raised and fully appreciate significance of the national war memorial.

As we have already received numerous valid representations from interested parties who have raised similar concerns as you have, the matter will be dealt with by way of a public hearing by the Tower Hamlets Licensing Sub-Committee. All parties that make a valid representation will be notified by the Democratic Services of the date, time and venue of the public hearing and invited to attend the hearing.

Unfortunately, your email does not meet the legal criteria. Under the Licensing Act 2003, the criteria for your representation to be valid is that you must make it clear how granting this particular application will have an impact on you only in relation to one or more of the following licensing objectives:
- the prevention of crime and disorder
- the prevention of public nuisance
- public safety
- the protection of children from harm

Government legislation states that for your representation to be valid, you must be one of the following:
- a person living in the vicinity of the premises
- a body representing persons living in the vicinity of the premises (i.e. residents association etc)
- a person involved in business in the vicinity of the premises
- a body representing persons involved in business in the vicinity of the premises
- a responsible authority (i.e. Police, Environmental Protection etc)
- a Ward Councillor

Without straying away from the immportance and the understanable high feelings of seaman regarding this awfull act. In Liverpool we needed the same 100,000 regarding the Hillsborough disaster we had them within two weeks in total 140,000 I dont think you will have a have a problem there Regards lads i have also emailed Diane Abott labour mp for hackney north london. Also: A Moving Venure spokeswoman said the company was "very surprised by the concerns raised by Trinity House with regards to the use of Trinity Square over the December period.

If anyone knows the spokesperson, possibly find out where their own relatives are buried and suggest a party at the cemetery.

I have been advised that: Tower Hamlets pretend to own Trinity Square Gardens, but have no title to the land. It simply is not theirs to rent out. The claim, by LBTH, that there will be no access from the marquee to the memorial is untrue. Plans submitted with the licensing application show that the guest entrance to the marquee is actually through the Mercantile Memorial, which consists of a paved surround as well as the pavillion.

Trinity Square is a 'protected square' listed in the London Squares Preservation Act 1931 (21 & 22 Geo. 5 cap.xciii) which makes it illegal to use other " otherwise than for one or more of the following purposes (that is to say) the purpose of an ornamental garden pleasure ground or ground for play rest or recreation (in this Act referred to as “authorised purposes”) and no building or other structure or erection shall be erected or placed on or over any protected square except such as may be necessary or convenient for or in connection with the use and maintenance of such square for one or more of the authorised purposes." (s.3(1).) S3.(11) places Tower Hamlets under a duty to enforce the Act. Under the ancient common law offence of Public Nuisance failure to perform that duty to enforce the Act could see Tower Hamlets facing an unlimited fine.
