Sharm el Sheikh popular holiday resort on the Red sea or was until ISIS killed 224 tourists in 2015 blowing up their plane.
I had a nephew often went there on diving holidays. I think they wore a shark proof suit ?
I used to run into Jeddah on an Aramco tanker. Often we would get a day or two at anchor the crew would quite often fish and pull a shark. Fishing was good there as always caught Grouper & Dolphin fish, often while reeling a fish in by the time you landed it a shark would have had a chuck out of it. Always remember the largest shark the crew caugght weighed in at just under 90kgs.These were well worth catching, good eating fishAttachment 36083Attachment 36084
i went thru canal 12 times each way, i think all my relatives got something from there, how about those camel stools,i was dealing with one bum boat, when the the guy next to him tried to sell me stuff also,my guy stabbed him in the ear, 1962 who cared,he had another on the other side of his head.
I bought a couple of small stuffed camels one time over the years the leather went mouldy and I found they were stuffed with bloodied bandages and wound dressings. Probably from the 6 day war. Into the bin they went. JS
John, Same fillings inside the stuffed donkeys sold in Spain in the 1970's and full of pins to boot!!
Anyone remember the dodgy bumboat men (sorry, persons) that would throw a rope up, then tie a bag to it halfway up. After you picked what he was selling, he would tell you to put the money in the bag first. Then he'd send up the item, but half way he'd pull sharply on the rope, causing the item and money to drop into his boat before scarpering with it all. I never got caught myself, simply due to not wanting anything off him, but older blokes would show me, by making out to put money in the bag. Caused a bit of a laugh I suppose.
Have seen that happen, and also seen the guys stood at the top with some very large shackles, thats assuming you wanted to buy his tats goods. Have also seen some socks with very unsavoury contents, rolled up and casually left near the accommodation , and yep got nicked, which would be a surprise when unrolled.
All I have from the Suez Canal. Still looking for my change!!!
Bought a Phillips electric shaver there, still works but sounds like a two stoke.
Lot of silly bits such as photo album supposedly made of Camel leather and a writing folder.
