hi col, i had completly forgot about the flippin searchlights. When on the wheel in dust or mist it did make it worse. What about those plimsoles or slippers made out of canvas and soles cut out of bicycle tyres, if they started to drop to bits you could sew them up again with the old palm & needle.......great days........
Reguards to you and yours, :d :d:d

Remember going down the canal back in about 64. Nasser was on a large Yacht entertaining the Russian president, Kruschof I think. The amount of armed vessels around the canal entrance was quite amazing.

Re: The Suez Canal
I wonder if the descendants of George still run the business?
Though the only ships likely to stop there would be cruise ships, cannot see any commercial ones there now.

Re: The Suez Canal
John.
Just saw the article and pictures of that Russian bloke taken by a shark in the Red sea, must have been mad as hell for him and his girl friend to go swimming there, she was lucky the sharks family weren't around. I remember waiting to go through the Canal at Suez, and as we were at anchor and we were surrounded by about six big sharks with bigger teeth than our Bondi ones. The article surmised that he was an absconder from joining the Russian Army, his father watched from the beach.
