    Default Sea Sunday 2021

Sea Sunday 2021 is on July 11, but you can mark the day on any Sunday of the year. With so many churches still in lockdown, weve made a short, narrated presentation about the situation facing seafarers, which you can share with your church on social media or add into your service, whether its online or in a church building.

Well done. We need reminding. Unfortunately, the date of Sea Sunday is either omitted or hidden.
In the website, I see no mention of the date of Sea Sunday.

    Sea Sunday 11th July 2021

The second Sunday in July, is when we come together across the globe to celebrate the role seafarers play in our daily lives.

From London to Lagos and Manila to Melbourne, our community gathers together to give something back to these essential workers who spend months away from their families in often difficult conditions to help keep our global economy afloat.

Tomorrow - Sunday 11th July is International Sea Sunday where the day is a celebration of the role Seafarers play in our daily lives!

Tomorrow in BARRY there will be a short service at The Merchant Seamens Memorial on the Waterfront (turn down towards the Waterfront at Morrisons roundabout and its right in front of you - jutting out into No.1 Dock!) at 2.00pm.

The service will be led by the chaplain of the Seafarers Fr. Chris Seaton together with the Mayor plus other civic leaders, dignitaries and officials and members of the Merchant Navy Association, plus others.
There will be readings, prayers, the Seamans Hymn - "Eternal Father, Strong to Save", 'Last Post', 'Reveille' and finsihing off with a blessing and the National Anthems.

Please NOTE that as we are still in Covid Restrictions, this event is outdoors, but we do ask any members of the public the use 'common sense' and social distance 2 metres apart and in the event of any people closer to you please use a facemask!

There will be a Sound System provided for the event so that anyone along the waterfront will be able to hear the complete service!

The Town of Barry has a rich history of seafarers, as back in history the port of Barry held the world record for the export of coal to other countries and the docks & town at one time was full of seafarers from the very many ships that docked in Barry.

We are hoping that the weather will be kind tomorrow afternoon at around 2pm!

The service was led by Chaplain of seafarers Fr Chris Seaton who remembered all seamen who have lost their lives at sea and gave thanks to those that work at sea.
