    Default Merchant Navy Day 2019

The principal Merchant Navy Day service in the UK takes place at the national Merchant Navy Memorial in Trinity Square Gardens on Tower Hill at 12.30pm on Sunday, 8 September.
Organised by the Merchant Navy Association, it is held there each year on the Sunday immediately following Merchant Navy Day.

Once again Seafarers UK is campaigning to raise public awareness of the UK’s ongoing dependence as an island nation on Merchant Navy seafarers and shipping.

We have sent the attached guide to every council in the UK, from the smallest parish meetings and town councils to the largest city councils, boroughs, counties and other local authorities. The guide includes a welcome endorsement from HRH The Earl of Wessex.

Our ask to councils and other organisations is straightforward. Please fly a Red Ensign on a civic building and/or flagpole in a public place. And, where possible, organise a flag-hoisting ceremony - promoting it via local and social media.

‘Old Friends Plus’ members may already be in touch with their local councils about plans for events on or around 3 September? If not please would they lobby councillors, Mayors and executive officers to ensure that Merchant Navy Day is not overlooked.

Our ‘Roll of Honour’ at www.merchantnavyday.uk is the place to register all locations ashore where the Red Ensign will be flown…

    Best wishes

    Nick

I have been asked by the local radio station to repeat my talk from last year.
There are a few new people working there and one who heard me last year contacted me.
I consider it an honor to be asked and will willing do so.

Many are already working on next year and on.
The coming years will see branch closures and the
laying up of standards lest somehow, more interest
    and help occurs.

My home town is fairly much secured for the future
but, there is so much more to do.

If like myself you are lucky enough to have access to the P.B S, American t.v. channel they have just ran a 6 half hour documentary simply called Merchant Navy. A great watch the last episode is aired tonight or should I say 01.30 hours U.K. Time.

When I first got involved via family near 20 odd years ago,
there was little of the MN on the net etc, much has been
achieved but, requires so much to ensure all continues.

The groups, associations, family and friends played and
    maintain remembrance into the future.

Pete and I went to Trinity Gardens last year. It was really splendid. Unfortunately, we can't manage a visit this time. Also, Liverpool tomorrow clashes with a family event. Perhaps you are going Terry ?
