Re: Temple Hall
Hi David I was on the Temple Hall nearly 20 years later, although have a feeling was a different ship. As this one had cranes and was what was called a Self Discharger. I joined her in Greenock, and ship had just come back not too long past off the Ozzie coast and had been under the Australian Flag. Think she had been on the Phosphate run out here. Going through the office drawers found old paperwork and wage slips. The deck boys had been on wage wise as much as I was as mate under the British flag. Maybe this was subconsciously in my mind when decided to emigrate out here years later. Regards John Sabourn

Re: Temple Hall
I sailed on the Temple Hall as Third officer from 5th Sept. '68 to 6th Feb. '69, when we handed her over to the Greeks in Liverpool. Prior to that I served on the Temple Main as Cadet fromAug. '66 to July '68.

Re: Temple Hall
My last trip deep sea under the British Flag 76/77 was on the Temple Hall as Chief mate. The writing was on the wall and had a change of scenery by going offshore , maybe a different Temple Hall , this one had 3 cranes and was classed as a self discharger if necessary. Think she was the first British flag ship up to Shanghai after Mao died .His wife supposedly in Gaol in Shanghai. I was on a ship on middle Trade 10 years later , but can’t remember her name. However she was not what one could call a deep sea ship. The company managing the Temple Hall also managed the Finish Wasa and I was on that before the Temple Hall. Unless I am getting really senile both these ships were managed by Whitco Marine and had strong connections with Salens . Cheers JS.
