I must say this although it will get up others noses. Myself having lived a number of years on this earth I have always had a high regard for the medical profession.As one gets older however things change and I rue the day I had to go of my own volitition to see my local GP. My feelings only are first of all communication barriers through lack of a common language. Most of any interrogation is done through a computer screen and any diagnosis is done by referral to other experts. This means travelling distances and also fees which seems of little interest to one’s faithful GP. I have come to realize the biggest trauma to me in particular is a visit to the local GP , wish I had never started and just let life take its natural course. The old time family GP was another entity altogether and used to look forward to his visits as probably brought you into this world , the way out today is via a computer and it’s diagnosis , I have mixed feelings about our modern medical profession.

It is probably because you live in a maybe a larger town. Here in Cooma we have two surgeries both with a number of Drs, the one I see is one of the old fashioned kind, been here for years, only uses the comp to check things like Blood tests or x-rays, it's all hands on stuff though they have a nurse with her own rooms he still is the one who gives me my implant, and does a general check-up. A friend of our who worked in the hospital years ago, she is now 94 remembers him when he started as a youngster, so has she says he couldn't very well get uppity LoL.

All you oldies, has your GP asked you this,- if your heart stops, would you like to be brought back?. I was ask this same question yesterday. My answer - 'definately not as I wouldn't like to exist on this earth as a cabbage'.

Was asked the similar last year Fouro and woken up at 0300 hrs prior to an operation at 0900 hrs. My answer was yes please . As there are still two of us and my better half has bad arthritis in her hands my first thought was who would open the marmalade jar for her at breakfast time , before entering the operating theatre the surgeon asked me if he put me out and heart stopped he may have trouble in rescusitating it and wanted to use a mixture of drugs to freeze my bottom half, he forgot to mention the hallucinating effects they would also have. If that is what druggies look for they can keep it. If I was on my own the answer would be the same as yours . Cheers JS
Plus of course the fact that most of our income is derived from pensions in my name so in retrospect she would be poorer than she is at present. JS

Like so many towns and cities now not just here in Oz but around the globe there is a shortage of all medical staff.
Our town is now about 38,000 and we have about 10 medical centers.
Yes you can have a regular GP, we had the same one for 20 years before he retired.
Now have a good one who only works two days a week the other days in a hospital.

But now most are called either Mohamad, or Mohamad, or Mohamad and the occasional one maybe Kuma.

But now all is on the computer and we have a system where your medical history can be brought up by any Doc on any system in the country.
The idea is that if you are taken ill in some other part of the country they Doc there can see your medical history.

A god system and for some it has saved lives.

Yes realize that John , but saying that it appears the same answer for everyone i.e. a standard remedy for me and a 60 year old .my so called heart attack happened donks ago and the blood found a new way around the heart and no stints were put in. My blood pressure has been high for the past 70 plus years and computers don’t go back that far. So remedies for me and a 60 year old are not the same. They may appear to be but all people are different .You show me Two identical beings ? Siamese twins even differ. Cheers JS .
