What would be the average ABV of this beer that causes all the pots trouble in OZ John, the beers and stouts here are plenty strong enough for me, here is an example of some of my local brew, can get battered on some of that quite easily.

Remember my first trip down to Aus on the MANZ run with Ellermans , we docked in Brisbane after going across the Pacific from Panama . Finished with engines and up the road to the Hamilton hotel (it was hot) got a cold beer (Lager) and immediately downed it that was my mistake as well as the beer being cold the glass was frozen .after the first gulp the skin on my Lip was stuck to the glass. Enjoyed the beer after a bit more practice.

Cobblers - the range of strengths here is very wide, with some e.g. Owd Roger, being restricted to a few halfs in a lot of places due to strength (8 or 9 %).
I drink for flavour mostly, not so much for the strength; however some of my favourites are of reasonable strength around 5%,
I dont actually Drink Alcohol anymore, however in the past say Six Months i had found a very (To my liking Taste) Beer, which is Non Alcohlic (well very very little ) and the taste is absolutely just like the real Mccoy.
The Beer is Clauthaler Unfiltered Dry Hopped Beer!
It really takes me back to the days i used to Guzle the Beers down! LOL And always loved German Brew! This one is oh so close ! I am hooked!

Think John being a London boy thinks we all drank Watneys Red Barrel.
I drink a beer to be sociable or if I am thirsty.
Getting to the stage now because the younger drinkers are conned by all they beer adverts on TV that beer/larger should be served freezing cold it is COOL to do so, never mind the fact that half of them would not know what a good pint tasted like if it jumped up and bit
them on the backside.
UK Beer started to cool down after people started going to sunny Spain on cheap package holidays.

There was a pub not far from us many years ago that had a tank installed and the 'Red Barrel' poured into it, from there to the glass.
I am aware that many regional beers in UK may be of a higher alcohol level.
But according to figures here moat of our main line are stronger than those of UK.
I did drink UK beers in the Southampton pubs prior to sailing but much preferred the cold beer in the Pig.
'Oranjeboom' was a good one.
Heer in Oz there was an attempt last year to bring in a non alcoholic beer, went down like a lead balloon.
Pubs and bars would not take it, only the grog shops.
But have you ever drunk Guiness, of course most of you have.

As the as the chief brewer told me, this stuff best drunk here, does not travel well.
Talking about Red Barrel, on my ventures eastward, the only English beer I saw was Red Barrel. A City boat I sailed on, we carried quite a few barrels of it as cargo. I remember it being unloaded in a few places, but can't remember where. Someone told me it was for places where British forces would be out for a beer. I remember drinking it myself in bars, but not where, probably Singapore and Malaya, even Borneo. I think Tiger beer was the local favourite in these places.
From the beers i see in Oz, they average out in strength to UK, we know much stronger are available, where we dip out is we are unable to attach this crocodile wrestling image to everything, including beer, lol
