    Default What A Piper

Time is like a river, You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never flow again. Enjoy every moment of life. As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a grave site service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service be at a paupers cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country. I got lost, and being a typical man didn't ask for directions.
I arrived an hour late. There were only the diggers and crew left behind and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do so started to play. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather round. I played my heart and soul out for thsi man with no family and friends. And as I palyed Amazing Grace, the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept. As I left I heard one of the workers say.
I've never seen anything like that before, and I've been putting in septic tanks for 20 years.

On a more serious note we have a friend in Texas who does just that.
He plays the bag pipes at weddings, funerals and any where else he can make quid from.

Last hear his aunt up in the Alice popped off, he flew in to play and was on his way back to Texas next day.

He does work for an airline so gets very cheap fares $20 return for this one.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    ANCIENT PIPING JOKE:

The lads are marching into battle, with the piper playing away like mad ...
The enemy's arrows, swords and spears are creating bloody slaughter all through the Irish ranks ...
Ten men down, and the piper plays on ...
Twenty men down, and still the pipes ring out.
Finally fifty men have fallen, and the chieftain says to the piper,

"For heaven's sake, can you not play something they like?"

My next door neighbor banged on my door at 3:00 am last night.

Fortunately, I was wide awake, playing my bagpipes on the back porch at the time.

That sounds very reminiscent of “ one fine day in the middle of the night , two blind men got up to fight , back to back they faced each other , drew their swords and shot each other “.
The first line got me “ banged on my door at 03.00 am last night. Cheers JS
