The Donaldson's tab looked kinda lonely up there with no threads started, so here goes. I sailed on the Laurentia in the mid sixties, she was an old liberty boat, holeystoning and all. Anyone know when she was built?

That's the old bucket Vern, thanks. I thought she was a bit older, certainly felt like it on those N Atlantic runs in the winter. Mind you, St John N.B. wasn't much fun either. A run ashore was no more than a walk up the street to buy a couple of the heavy duty checked shirts, a coffee next door and back to the boat.
Saw the Lismoria a few times in Glasgow too, Big Man.

Are thereb any crew members about who served on the Norwegian 1950 era. Mostly from Avonmouth pool.
Walley Pavior was the cook and I was 2nd Cook& Baker.;Sadly Wally has passed away but what a cook.

i also sailed on the lismoria, many times had to take the wheel going out of glasgow because the rest of the crew were too drunk to stand.
Once two days out of glasgow a civvie came into the messroom, he'd only just sobered up and was frantic because he'd missed his work and his missus would kill him.I think he got sent home from quebec dbs

I think Wally also sailed on Charlie Hill's boats (Bristol City Lines) as well. It was either the City Boats or Fyffes that I sailed with him.

That's a good one Nils, he probably had no idea what he was in for, weather-wise, particularly if it was winter. Did they make him work?
