    Default Lost at sea

My dad was lost at sea on 23rd october 1975. His name was Joe Cairns and he was on the Troll Park returning from America. Anyone remember this trip or my dad, he had also been on troll river and other denholm ships.I was only 7 when he died any information would be appreciated

    ALL AT SEA:

This page is dedicated to all the ships on which we sailed.
Sadly most of them no longer exist and are only kept alive by our memories and photos.

Hope this helps a little and that more may develop.

In remembrance of Joe Cairns and the many lost to the sea.

    Default Assistance.........

    Hello John.Welcome Aboard!
How very sorry I am to hear of your fathers circumstances whilst serving in the M.N.aboard his ship.
To help you,try clicking on the link here that I found on this site, where there are a few personnel who have recorded their DENHOLMS ships.
    http://www.merchant-navy.net/forum/f...splay.php?f=42

Also I see there are quite a few threads about Denholms and the Troll ships on another site(Ships Nostalgia).
To go there, click the link below:-
    http://www.shipsnostalgia.com

Register there, then in the Search Box I suggest you type TROLL first and have a look, then later try typing DENHOLMS to show all those threads.

If no joy ,then I suggest making an appeal like you did on this site on the Denholms thread on that Ships Nostalgia site.

There are many of us ex M.N. personnel of your Dad's time who are still around on both of these sites,so
    there is room for optimism!
    All the Best

    Arrow for John Cairns

    Hi John.Thanks for the feedback.
I've been reading the post you also put on Ships Nostalgia site, and so far it looks fairly promising about finding someone who knew Joe(your Dad) either there or on this site. Some of the members there are also members here, which does help in the passing of information......
    Fingers Crossed,mate.
    All the best.

    Default 10 Years on

Been searching for ten years, on own family links.

Best advice in all reality is strangely enough to give up.

Sounds really negative, in truth everytime I near thinking nothing will come, and / or whats the point etc - Comes a breakthrough, personally, will never give up, but often do for a moment or two in hope of news?

    Default Info ????

    Hello John C
I know this is vet late, but please accept my sincere condolences on your loss! Always so hard to accect these facts, but unfortunately this is something we cannot foresee!

I am just wondering if there would be any clues on the Ships log which should be held on the Voyage Record Cards about this incident!?
I had obtained al of my VRC's and there is quite a lot of info on them!
However as said i am not certain if this may assist in any way!
The Cards are available from the Guildford Library London!
Most of the other Manuscripts have been moved elsewhere but to date as far as i am aware the VRC'S are still held there!

So just an idea that may or may not bear fruit!
Cheers and as Keith says never give up!
