Welcome
In late 50's early 60 's Denholms Ship Management organisation consisted of 4groups ABCD- does anyone know if any of the group managers are still around?..
Just looking at discharge book numbers. I am curious, my discharge book number is R877577. John from oz is a similar number , I think John has a 3 in there somewhere, bear with me John!!! Not sure what age John is, I am 69 (6/2/49) shipped out in September 1969. What age are you Lionel ? unless my maths are bad that is 582405 discharge books issued between yours and mine. Off course perhaps that number is not a British book. It is great to see the influx of new members over the last week or two, a breath of fresh air.
Lionels number starts with a 2 Lewis. He is I would say in his nineties and was at sea during the war. Are you getting mixed up. Unless another Lionel you are referring to. For your info. Mine is R575129 Brian’s is slightly higher and yet he was at sea before me. We discussed these slight anomalies previousdly and was put down to how shipping offices received and distributed the books. Cheers JWS. PS don’t think Lionel is a new member. He just doesn’t post too often. JS.

I am not sure how the numbers were allocated but a couple who left Gravesend after I left the Vindi have lower numbers. I believe the books were sent to the various outlets in batches but not always issued in a calendar manner.
Happy daze John in Oz. Life is too short to blend in. John Strange R737787 World Traveller
