Default Loch Maree Nov 77 - May 78

    Hi Mick,

I was the 'catering boy' on the Loch Maree from Nov 77 - May 88 with the Irish/Scots (Pat 'Crogan'?) Chief cook and Iain the big ginger haired 2nd Cook from the Isle of Skye...

I have many memories - still fresh - of that trip as it was only my second trip to sea... especially of the storm we went through just after I joined which went on for a week or more and then later on Christmas day, when we were about to serve lunch, the weather was perfect and then she hit a current and went into a heavy roll throwing everything all over the place - totally unexpected because the weather was really great!

My name is Stephen, but Pat, the Cook nicknamed me 'Luigi' because of my Italian heritage and that stuck for a few trips!

    For now...

    Stephen

    Hi Mick,

I sailed with you on the Arctic Troll March - June 1980 (I think). I was one of the Stewards on board. Can't really remember much about it now, other than you & 'e' going to watch the Arsenal @ Highbury & coming back pissed..

If not the Arctic Troll it could have been?:

Asialiner / Asiafreighter 1978 - 79 (Long way from Greenock to North London)

Cast Puffin 1980 (don't think so though)

    Hope this finds you well

    Wink Arctic troll

    Hi Scot mate
Yes it was the Arctic Troll we sailed together on (30 years ago!) fkin hell Scottie where's the time gone man?
I remember the Arsenal fans didn't like us when we started singing kiss my **** to them ha ha.
Niether did big Mick 'ginger' Byrne when we used to call him different variations of 'Big Red'! ha ha
You mentioned the Cast Puffin that year Scot, I was on her that year as well but not with you,
I sailed with Jimmy Smith on both (from Campbelltown) you'll remember him.
Drop a line Scot and let me know where you've been since then.
    all the best mate.
    Mick

    Morning Mick,

Of your list , was on "Caledonian Forest "1978 and "Cast Puffin" August '80 to Jan '81.

Among the Names , Gerry McGurk rings a bell , think it was on one of the Seatrain box
    boats.

  11. Thanks Doc Vernon thanked for this post
