First trip third mate

Joined the Cluden in Rotterdam,having flown from Kiwi. My first trip as an ossifer fresh off the deck (on Kiwi Coast)
Transfered after 4 months to the Cree a bitumen tanker working the Malaysian coast.

I did 6 months on the Cree as 2nd Mate 1971/72 ish (haven't got my dis book here). Occnly Pulau Bukom - Saigon - Muara - Kota Kinabalu. Mainly Port Dickson - Telok Anson - Penang. When you were on her was there a 3d cargo pipe diagram in a frame in the wheelhouse ? I did that, or rather I did the original in pencil on a chart and the Capt Nick Funston did a fair version which was framed.

Im thinking 72ish. I sailed with Nick Funston about that time. Cant remember last names but mate was Bob ?? another John?. VJ chief eng. Good little job. We'll never see the like again. PS I did two full tours in Cree.

I did the Cree also from sept 72... Captains were peter ballantyne/nick funstan/ken miller, Bob Winn was one of the C/Os then...Did you get up to the HK bar in Penang? I later went on the Eastern Glory in Japan and returned to the Cree at a later date. good times
