African Prince
Hi jock my Grandad was on the African Prince from the 17th September 1954 to the 4th October 1955. He was an assistant steward. Hes names George McGloughlin From Hull. Ring any bells? Im just in the process of putting a list of his ships together with images and any information i can find. He was aged 20 or 21 when he was on board. hope to hear back from you. Ricci :)

I know this is a very long shot ,but I am writing to you in the hope the name might just ring a bell with you. Because you were sailing in that part of the world have you ever heard of a Peter Robert Hughes, some times it might be Robert Peter Hughes. He was Chief Officer on a ship called the "Batu Pahat". He was found in his cabin with knife wounds to his neck and died in Kowloon hospital around 1960.His ship was at anchor in Hong Kong harbour at the time .The last we knew of him he was leaving NZ bound for the UK. We would like to know if he had an address he used in NZ

#12... ref. The name Robert Hughes , I seem to recollect a person of the same name at the South Shield pre sea school in 1952. I may have asked you this before but as most on here as get older memory gets older too. JS

I never went to sea myself, most of the family all went to sea including the woman.
