    Default Geordie Ron

Ahoy there. I was on the Orelia and Arosa in the 60s. Remember Foxy Fowler (skipper) white gloves torch on inspection. Chief steward from Port Talbot (I think) can't remember his name. Usualy sailed with his budgie which always made a mess in his cabin, I should know as I was the galley boy who had to clean it up, his wife flo with the wooden foot who was always full of gin. Trips to the usual places with iron ore. Narvic, Macapa, Seven Isles.port Talbot. Workington, etc. etc. Not the best trips for me, but fond memories.

G'day Ursron and welcome to the site, best one around and with a great crew. If you care to list all your ships with dates you may well hear from some who knew you. So while you wait sit back with a cold one and enjoy the voyage.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Smile Orelia

I joined the Orelia in 1959 as 2R/O on my first trip to sea. We sailed from Irlam to Spain to Almeria, returning to Barrow - in - Furness. Then went to Pepel in West Africa which we reached one week late having broken down off Lisbon and having to spend a week there waiting for the spare part. Trip three was to Wabana, Canada returning to Middlesborough, then to Oxelosund in Sweden returning to Port Talbot and the end of the articles so we all went home.
Too much going on to remember much more.
Not the world's steadiest ships. I think she rolled as we went down the ship canal after a tug passed us

Welcome alanat20 to the best site on the net. If you care to list your ships with some dates you may well get replies from some who sailed with you. So sit back with a cold one while you wait and enjoy the voyage.
