#8 ref. To latitude . Should come under the heading of until death us do part and could be worked out in 2 minutes if by the sun and only needed the following , the index error of the sextant , the dip and refraction errors taken from the almanac/tables always minus , the semi diameter of sun could be plus or minus depending which limb of sun used , and Parallax always plus. Subtract the total from 90 degrees which gave you the zenith distance , apply the suns declination out of the almanac and Shazam the answer was your latitude. No big deal. Those cast adrift in lifeboats years ago before modern aids , as long as they had a sextant and an almanac in the boat would always be able at some time to find their latitude.

Re: Chelsea Brass Marine Radio Room Clock.
I like your attitude, shows you still have the capacity to recall such info.
Sadly when the likes of you are no more IO wonder if the younger ones will be so capable?

Re: Chelsea Brass Marine Radio Room Clock.
They were quite capable with the communications better than me, on the loss of the R/O . Communications with the office and the likes , I always found an excuse to delegate one of them to be responsible for the use of the computer , I always found myself tongue tied when having to speak to them and found it easier through a third party, saved answering stupid questions at times and could always plead ignorance if necessary.
