Hospital anyone
Well I woke up Thursday morning with ho way to hold my bleedin Ass.
Not right I thoughtso off to the local emergency medical centre.
Nothing found, youmay have Gastro, take some blood and give a stool sample when youcan.
Fine until justafter Breakfast Saturday, get to the emergency door of the hospital, you arer low on Iron and Heathen in the gloaming, that sounds likesome Scottish disease.
Fall in the dooralmost out of it.
Taken to a roomwhere four docs and others said we have questions for you.
Do I need anattourney or can I claim the fifth.
No worries mate, allmedical ones.
They put a needle ineach arm one with a blood transfusion, the other who knows. Bit likea Texas prisoner waiting for the hot needle.
After some 8 hours Iam told you are to be taken to another hospital close by and in themorning a Gastr, camera down the throat oscopy.
See my new bed nadthe sign, ‘nil by mouth’ nice.
Sunday morning forbreakfast an ice cube to freshen my mouth not bad but it was bloodyfreezing.
All day and nothing, some emergencies so have wait for Monday.
So have the thingdown the throat, result bit like a brain scan of a few years ago, found nothing.
So bleed not fromthe stomach, must be the bowel.
But still the redsea appears in the dunny bowl,
Do a scan to seewhat is going on, no result from that. Bloody mystery me.
Tuesday eveningdrink 3 liters of some medicine in 2 hours, you kidding, what am I abloody camel? Then one in the morning that will clear you out.
Listen mate at therate my guts are clearing this stuff will not have much to do.
So they do theirstuff, no bleed there, must be from the bowel lining.
Then I get a meal, first food since Saturday, living on fluids, juice, jelly and extrathin soup.
Early hours of themorning the flood gates open and what a smell, could ride a bike downit.
Off at 0500 hoursfor a scan.
The again at 1400hours for another, then for an Angiogram 2 hours off it awake.
Nothing so 2 dayslater a second one after my 3rd scan.
After 2 hours of a 3hour procedure he finds the bleed, and pins it.
Now I carry a cardto go through airports, bionic man.
Slowly the bleedssubside. All black and old blood coming out in bucket loads.
But the treatmentcontinues, 3 blood samples per day taken. BP every 2 hours day andnight,’ you awake sir’ well I was until you came in at 0200hours. Got to the state I could hold my arm out in my sleep.
Them came the goodnews, we ant to see some of your bowel motions in a bed pan, notmuch good to look at in the dunny bowl. This lot must be kinky ifthey want a close up of what I am producing.
Then good news. Youcan go home, with this bag of pills, when you pay for them.
So in 17 days ofexcellent care by some very dedicated nurses from some 15 differentcountries I felt good.
The dietician toldme it was my diet that had kept me in good shape, my body is inbetter condition than many 10 years or more my junior.
The doc who did theAngiogram said my arteries are in pristine condition as are my veins.
Fine but my armsmust be like sieves the number of needles I had.
Kept fit while intheir by walking. Found a corridor some 80meters round trip, wasdoing 20 to 25 laps per day along with 20 press ups.
So in 17 days I had
18 units of blood
2 large units odSaline
1 of iron
10 of Phosphate
6 of Potasium
and who knows howmany other bottles or bags of stuff.
Of the 17 days only6 with food the rest nil by mouth or fluid.
But the food wasgood, breakfast cereal juice toast fruit and coffee.
Lunch and eveningmeal, soup, choice of 3 mains and 3 desserts, all very good qualityproduced bu outside contractors.
Bit of a bummer, hadto cancel our cruise for Christmas/ New year, must wait make sure nomore bleeds.
But the best bit, Iam still alive to tell the tale.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Hospital anyone
Sounds like a real Comedy John, better than most on Broadway! LOL
Well after all that mate i am sure that you may look a bit different now with all that Foreign Blood in your Veins! Could be Chinese. Are you a Yellow colour yet!
At least you are making the grade now, and getting better, so who cares if you are Chinese, African or whatever! i see that non of what has happened has diminished your sense of Humour!
Welcome Back Cotter!!
PS Take Care now and keep your own Blood please! LOL

Re: Hospital anyone
Well John your post has somehow appeared in its usual format so will inform Gunga Din his message has gone twice. He may then give me clean water for the whiskey as am cutting out the half of beer which usually accompanies the whiskey the Scots way. Cheers JS.

Re: Hospital anyone
To all my good mates.
Thank you for all your concerns.
I am slowly getting better and regaining strength, food helps.
Nil by mouth and fluid diets are fine when the fluid is an amber color, but when a doc tells you there are calories in a jelly one has to look very hard to find them.
Think I will stick with blank mange in future.
Happy daze John in Oz.
