I know no one has missed me for the last week.
I have been ill in hospital with "Oropharyngeal Candidiasis"
This is swelling in the throat which stopped me eating solid foods.
Am on the mend and back home.

Re: Illness
One experiences so many ways of suffering so many different types of illnesses.
Take it for instance in my case the first two months of 2023 were devastating for me and I am still suffering yet.
I lost my young.and only brother who died in hospital aged 79 on 7th January. Then on 4th February I lost my beloved wife Rosina who died in hospital.suffering from that ghastly disease Dementia. She was aged 87. At that time I couldn't concentrate or do anything. Now I am getting some confidence back àfter such a tragic period in my life.
Fouro.

Re: Illness
Yes many different things that come to test us all at one time or the other. I too have had my share of Downs! Lost quite a few of Family, and have had illness as well, also Big Heart Op, but like many have overcome the Hurdles and got back to trying at least to live a normal life!
No good dwelling on anything really, not saying dont forget sad things , but dont let them get you down, as that in itself is a sickness!
Keep Smiling !!

Re: Illness
Oh my dear Lord!
Just speaking of things that happen, i have just arrived back home from my Saturday Shopping and my dear Wife is standing waiting , i can immediately see something is amiss!
She reaches out to me and embraces me , and telling me that our Dearest Brother in Law, Derek aged 84, has just passed away last Night in the Hospital. This is a huge shock to the entire Family, as although he was in Hospital, it was just to assist his Breathing with Oxygen , and only two days ago things were looking just fine !
His poor Wife (Irenes Sister) is absolutely devasted to say the least, and of course we are in Total Shock!
So now to see what is to be done, to assist the Family, Funeral Arrangements , Standing by each other etc.
So the next few days will not be very pleasant at all.
Rest in Peace Derek, you will be sadly missed , after knowing you and being Friend for the past 58 Years!
Sincere Condolences to Rhona and the Girls! (There are Four Daughters)

Re: Illness
Yes sadly as we age bits and pieces start to fail. I to have had more than my fair share of hospitals this last 5 or 6 weeks. Next appointment 18th July. Barium Swallow I had the endoscopy 2 weeks ago. Took biopsys and she wanted to go down again. No way I said. I have breathing problems as it is and she nearly drowned me. I have extreme difficulty breathing through my nose and I generate a lot of salava and flame, having diffuse pleural thickening caused by asbestos. Not many former ships engineers or shipyard workers(pipe laggers) will not have some form of an asbestos related condition.
One thing I know for sure having had the prostate finger probe I am diffinately not gay.
